Theater for Children and Young adults April 19

At the Downtown Cabaret Children’s Theater is Goldie Locks
Welcome to the BIG TOP CIRCUS. A world full of magic, and wonder awaits as we meet the stars of the circus, the Clowns, the Old Lion, The Giraffe Sisters, Goldie Locks, and of course, The Three Bears. Our bears sing and dance to a brand new tuneful score that will have you humming and dancing along. Goldie Locks, our escape artist, is the great niece of Uncle Houdini, who owns the circus. Goldie Locks is not happy that the bears are the stars of the circus, and when she finds out that her uncle is giving the circus to her on her 18th birthday, she causes quite an upset. She begins to take over by invading the bears' dressing room. She eats their food, sits in their chairs, and even sleeps in their beds! The animals call a meeting to decide how they are going to get back at Goldie Locks, but the wise Old Lion convinces them all that nothing will ever be gained by anger. Goldie Locks, who thinks she can get out of anything, creates a new act, but the first attempt at escape goes horribly wrong. In spite of her cruelty to them, The Bears come to her rescue. Goldie Locks sees the error of her ways, and vows never to be selfish again. She gives the Bears their starring billing back and the circus goes on to delight young and old once again.

Immaculate High School performs Elton John and Tim Rice’s  AIDA – their spring musical! on April 28, 29 & 30. Elton John and Tim Rice's AIDA is a contemporary musical take on a grand classic tale of the timeless bond between an enslaved Nubian princess and an Egyptian soldier. As forbidden love blossoms between them, the young lovers are forced to face death or part forever. Together, they set a shining example of true devotion that ultimately transcends the vast cultural differences between their warring nations, heralding a time of unprecedented peace and prosperity. With a pop-rock score that features stirring ballads and rousing choral numbers, Elton John and Tim Rice's AIDA is a modern crowd pleaser that embraces multi-cultural casting and exuberant dancing, staging and singing.

Urinetown at Danbury High School  Runs From: May 5 through May 7, 2011.
One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, URINETOWN is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he's had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, URINETOWN is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be, URINETOWN catapults the “comedic romp” into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit, and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter.

The Hartford Children’s Theatre Performms 13 April 29 through May 15, 2011 Performed at the Carriage House Theatre
In the tradition of Glee, Clueless and Mean Girls comes 13, a new musical about the one thing we never stop doing – growing up.  With a blast of high voltage energy, an all-teen cast navigates the ups and downs of turning 13.  Fresh from New York City, the new kid in town is desperate to fit in, survive middle school and get all the "cool kids" to attend his impending bar mitzvah. Every day he faces a new teen trauma: cell phones and rumors, first dates and first kisses, cliques, clashes and crushes.  Featuring a brightly infectious rock score from Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown, 13 is a fresh, funny and touching rites of passage story that all ages can relate to.
13 IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 11.
