This just in Auditions

The Ridgefield Theater Barn will be holding open auditions for the 3rd installment of Word Around Town: An Evening of Original Poetry on Sunday, April 1, at 3pm and Monday, April 2, at 7pm.

Performances for Children

It is the final week at The Downtown Cabaret Children’s Theatre, for Sleeping Beauty and Her Prince Feb 26 - Apr 1
Prepare to step into this world of wonder where wishing is only the beginning and dreams really do come true!  Where evil turns to goodness and true love conquers all.  Where three fairies take us on a spellbinding journey that will captivate audiences with so much heart, humor, fun and adventure, as we dream with our princess and cheer for our heroes.  You will be genuinely moved by this dynamic story filled with wonderful music, stunning costumes and glittering special effects, as we bring this purely magical experience to life!

The Westport Country Playhouse presents Nearly Lear on Sunday April 1at 4pm By Susanna Hamnett, Recommended for age 9 and up
Nearly Lear uses exuberant storytelling, music and film to retell Shakespeare’s story of King Lear as seen through the eyes of the King’s endearing goofball clown, Norris, who, in good Shakespearean tradition, is actually Noreen disguised as a boy. Mischievous, funny and tender, the production is a vaudevillian take on a classic play that will entrance both lovers of Shakespeare as well as newcomers to the Bard.

As the men prepare to head off to war, the women, led by Lysistrata, wage their own battle — of the sexes. Apparently even in Aristophanes’ day, the quickest way for women to get their point across was by turning a cold shoulder to the amorous advances of the men in their lives. The only hope for the men was to comply with the social change the women demand: if you want to make love, stop making war.
Performances March 9 at 8 p.m. on March 10 at 2 and 8 p.m. and March 11 at 3 p.m.
